Each summer, Launch Chapel Hill—operated in partnership with Innovate Carolina—helps UNC-Chapel Hill students transform early ideas into viable startups through its Student Summer Accelerators. Designed to meet students at any stage of their entrepreneurial journey, the program offers one- and two-week options focused on ideation, customer discovery and market strategy.
Participants in the Intro to Ideation and Rams to Riches accelerators gain access to expert mentors, hands-on workshops and a collaborative peer network. Evening sessions held at the Innovate Carolina Junction provide a flexible, downtown workspace where students can build their ventures while balancing internships or other commitments.
The program emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging students to take ownership of their ideas while receiving guidance from mentors and leaders within the region’s innovation ecosystem. For many, it serves as a first introduction to entrepreneurship and a launching point for continued growth.
Student founder Alyssa Morales, creator of the multi-use balm LYSS, credits the program with helping her refine her product, strengthen her marketing approach and identify her target customers. Her experience reflects the program’s broader impact: giving students the confidence, skills and community support needed to move from concept to execution.
As a zero-cost, high-impact program, Launch Chapel Hill continues to play a key role in cultivating student entrepreneurs and strengthening UNC’s position as a hub for innovation in the Triangle.
