Industry Panel: What Is the Future of Work?

This event is part of Innovate Carolina’s Future of Work Signature Series, a series tackling big challenges that matter to North Carolina and the greater good.

Innovate Carolina launched its Future of Work Signature Series at the Innovate Carolina Junction with a panel discussion on talent, technology and emerging workplace trends. Hosted at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s downtown innovation hub, the event brought together experts from Gensler, Innovation Lab U.S. and Deloitte to examine how organizations can adapt in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Moderated by Sheryl Waddell from Innovate Carolina, the discussion explored hybrid work, leadership and the growing influence of technologies like artificial intelligence and AR/VR. Panelists emphasized the importance of strong organizational culture, continuous learning and the ability to upskill as industries evolve.

Beyond the panel, the event created opportunities for networking and collaboration among students, professionals and community members. The session highlighted the Junction’s role as a hub for connecting people, ideas and innovation—while reinforcing the need for adaptability in the future of work.
